In November 2023 there were 431 original notifications on the RASFF Portal including 396 of food, 21 of feed and 14 of food contact material.
With food, fruit and vegetables accounted for the most cases (16.7%), followed by nuts, nut products and seeds (12.1%), poultry meat and poultry meat products (10.7%), herbs and spices (9.5%).
Among 72 notified fruit and vegetable products, the non-compliant reason is related to pesticide (72%), including unauthorized pesticide and exceeding the maximum residue level. Chlorpyrifos and chlopyrifos-methyl which were banned by EU in 2019 are still detected. Some pesticides have high frequency such as acetamiprid, thiamethoxam. Another non-complaint reasons are contaminants like aflatoxin, ochratoxin A and allergen sulphur dioxide.
With nuts, nut products and seeds, 50% products do not compliance with regulation that related aflatoxin. Besides that, the claim allergy on the label also need to notice, there are have 7 alerts in this month.
The presence of Salmonella and chlorate were the major reason for the notification of Poultry meat and poultry meat products.
With herbs and spices, the main non-complaint reasons are related to unauthorized pesticide of Chlopiryfos, pyrrolizidine alkaloids contaminant.
