[EU]. RASFF NOTIFICATION: NON-COMPLIANCE PRODUCTS IN MARCH 2024.

In March 2024, there were 500 initial notifications on the RASFF Portal including 459 foods, 27 animal feeds and 14 food contact material notifications.

 

In food, fruits and vegetables are still the products that account for the most cases (20.5%), followed by nuts, nut products and seeds (13.9%), cereals and bakery products (9.4%).
Of the 94 notified fruit and vegetable products, there were 43 cases of border rejection notification, 21 cases of alert, 24 cases of information notification for attention and 6 cases of follow-up. Due to non-compliance with regulations related to pesticides (73%), including illegal pesticides and exceeding maximum residue levels. Substances that are not allowed to be used are still detected in the product including: Chlorpyrifos, acephate, phosmet. In addition and some active ingredients such as Metalaxyl and actamiprid also frequently exceed the MRL threshold. Another notable announcement is that all Afltatoxin mycotoxin warnings are severe and the products originate mostly from Türkiye.
With 64 warning cases about nuts and nut products, the outstanding notice is that more than 59% of cases are related to total aflatoxin and B1 mainly in peanuts.
The third food group on the warning list is cereals and bakery products with 43 cases. Alerts focus on allergens, pesticides, and fungal toxins.
With Vietnamese products, we have 4 alert cases from the EU, 2 from Germany, 1 from Spain and 1 from Belgium for exceeding the Ternidazole threshold in shrimp samples, detecting Clostridium perfringens in samples. cinnamon, lack of egg allergen declaration, and genetically modified rice.
