[EU]. RASFF NOTIFICATION: NON-COMPLIANCE PRODUCTS IN APRIL 2024.

In April 2024, there were 523 notifications on the RASFF Portal including 472 foods, 34 animal feeds and 17 food contact material notifications.

 

In food, fruits and vegetables are still the products that account for the most cases (16.8%), followed by nuts, nut products and seeds (10.9%), dietetic foods, food supplements and fortified foods. (7.8%).
There are alert cases that notice in this month: 

  • Pesticide residues: active ingredient residues that are not allowed to use chlopiryfos, frequency of exceeding the allowable MRL level of active ingredients metalaxyl, carbendazim, acetamiprid, imidachopride, etc. in fruit, vegetable and nut products.
  • Exceeding Aflatonxin fungal toxins in grain and grain products
  • Residues of 3-monochlor-1,2-propanediol (3-MCPD), glycidyl esters in biscuits, vegetable oils from Jordan, Thailand, Turkey and Egypt.
  • The most prominent is the discovery of banned Sudanese additive residues: In April, there were 2 cases of detecting Sudan colorants in oil and spice product originating from Côte d'Ivoire and Syria. Not only has the EU warned, but recently, Taiwan has also issued many notices to cancel spice products (chili powder) containing Sudan. Food manufacturers need to comply with food safety regulations and not use banned substances in food production and processing.

In April, Vietnam received 9 warnings, including 4 cases from Germany, 3 from France, 1 from Belgium and 1 from the Netherlands. Notably, there were 3 cases of violation of banned antibiotic residues azithromycin and leuco-malachite green in shrimp and pangasius fillets; 1 case of violation of the banned pesticide active ingredient chlorpyrifos-methyl in ground cinnamon; the remaining cases exceeded the maximum residues of the active ingredients chlorothalonil and iprodione in papaya, and flonicamid and thiamethoxam in okra.
