In february, there were 432 original notifications on the RASFF Portal including 389 of food, 15 of feed and 14 of food contact material.
Among foods, fruits and vegetables account for the most cases (21.6%), followed by nuts, nut products and seeds (11.9%), dietetic foods, food supplements and fortified foods (7.2%).
Of the 87 notified fruit and vegetables, the reason for non-compliance was related to pesticides (69%), including unauthorised pesticides and exceeding maximum residue levels. Substances that are not allowed to be used are still detected in the product including Chlorpyrifos, chlorpyrifos-methyl, acephate, methamidophos, diafenthiuron and chlorfenapyr. In addition, some active ingredients such as Metalaxyl, actamiprid, and dimethoate also frequently exceed the MRL threshold. Another notable announcement is that all Afltatoxin mycotoxin warnings are severe and the products originate mostly from Türkiye.
With 48 warning cases about nuts, nut products and seeds, the prominent notice is that more than 50% of cases are related to total aflatoxin and B1, focusing largely on pistachios and peanuts. Note that the frequency of detecting products contaminated with Salmonella is also quite high in products originating in Turkey and Nigeria.
The third food group on the warning list is dietetic foods, food supplements and fortified foods with micronutrients with 29 cases. The warnings mostly fall into cases of using unauthorized active ingredients such as aloe-emodin, aloin A and aloin B, Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC),...
With Vietnamese products, we have 13 warning cases from the EU, see the table below for details.
