[EU]. RASFF NOTIFICATION: NON-COMPLIANCE PRODUCTS IN JUN 2024.

In Jun 2024, there were 429 notifications on the RASFF Portal including 396 foods, 20 animal feeds and 13 food contact material notifications.

 

In food, fruits and vegetables are still the products that account for the most cases (72 notifications), followed by nuts, nut products and seeds (55 notifications) and poultry meat and poultry meat products (48 notifications).
There were highlight alerts reported this month:

  • Microbiology: Most notable is the detection of Salmonella in poultry products originating from Brazil (26 warnings); detected Listeria monocytogenes and E.coi 103 in milk and dairy products; Bacillus cereus in chili sauce; Clostridium botulinum in canned mushrooms originating from Russia.
  • Pesticides: Detecting residues of the banned active ingredient Ethylene oxide from spice and sauce products originating from India; Chlopyrifos still remains in fruit and vegetable products, and the frequency of residues of acetamiprid, imidacloprid, metalaxyl, carbendazim, Azoxystrobin exceeding the MRL threshold is quite frequent in fruit and vegetable groups.
  • Toxins: Acrylamide content is too high in snacks originating from the UK, Aflatoxin in the nut group is quite high. 
  • Food additive: Detecting cakes originating from the Philippines using banned colorant E 110- Sunset Yellow FC, E220 Sulfur dioxide content is too high in dried apricots originating from Turkey, soft drinks originating from the USA using too much sucralose. 
  • Antibiotics: detecting banned substances such as nitrofuran, leuco-malachite green in seafood
  • Allergies: lack of declaration of allergies to sesame seeds, soybeans, peanuts, eggs, sulfite content is too high in dried apricots.
  • Other pollutants: Noteworthy are cases of Hg residue, histamine, PAHs residue exceeding the permitted level in fish; high Pb residue in cocoa, kumquat and meat.

Vietnam: in June, Vietnam received warnings from France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Slovenia, Poland and the Netherlands. Details are in the table below:
