In August 2024, there were 334 notifications on the RASFF Portal including 301 foods, 19 animal feeds and 14 food contact material notifications.
In food, fruits and vegetables are still the products that account for the most cases (47 notifications), followed by dietetic foods, nuts, nut product and seeds (37 notifications) and dietetic foods, food supplements and fortified foods (32 notifications).
There are highlight alerts reported this month:
- Microbiology: Most highlight is the detection of Salmonella in meat products originating from many sources (13 warnings) and in nut and nut products (5 alerts); Listeria monocytogenes in fish and fish products.
- Pesticides: The banned active substances such as chlopyrifos, acephate, phosmet, dimethoate, thiamethoxam, chlorfenapyr, tricyclazole, spirodiclofen, diafenthiuron, paraquat are detected in fruit and vegetable products, herbs and spices, tea, and cereals. The frequency of residues of acetamiprid, imidacloprid, metalaxyl, carbendazim, Azoxystrobin exceeding the MRL is quite frequent in the vegetable and fruit, spices group. Residues of unauthorized substance fipronoil, cholpyrifos, and isoprothiolane were detected in the group of food supplements originating from Russia and Ukraina. Residue of ethylene oxide is detected in spices from India.
- Mycotoxins: Some notice including Aflatoxin is exceeded the threshold in nuts and nut products quite frequently; Ochratoxin A was exceeded in some dried fruit products, cereal products, spices and cocoa.
- Food additive:The most alerts is detected unauthorized Sudan 1,4 in curry powder from Turkey. Some highlight cases include that E 210 is not allowed to be used in syrup-based food supplements originating from Ukraine that was detected. Colour E 110 - Sunset Yellow FCF is too high in ices and desserts from Egypt. Sulfur dioxide exceeding the threshold in dried fruit and alcoholic beverages.
- Antibiotics: detecting banned leuco-malachite green substances in frozen fillet.
- Allergies: lack of declaration of allergies egg, gluten, and wheat
- Vietnam: in August, Vietnam received warnings from Finland, Slovenia, Romani and Netherlands. Details are in the table below:
