On August 1, 2025, China’s National Health Commission released the exposure drafts of GB 2761 National Food Safety Standard Maximum Levels of Mycotoxins in Foods and GB 2762 National Food Safety Standard Maximum Levels of Contaminants in Foods.
Proposed amendments include:

There were changes in Aflatoxin B1 and Aflatoxin M1 in Food for special medical purposes products (except infant formula food for special medical purposes), specifically as follows:

- GB 2762 National Food Safety Standard Maximum Levels of Contaminants in Foods:
Compared with GB 2762-2022, this standard contains the following major changes:
- Revised the lead limit requirements for dried aquatic products, jellyfish products, and foods formulated for special medical purposes (excluding those covered by special medical purpose infant formula)
- Revised the cadmium limit requirements for dried aquatic products
- Revised the mercury limit requirements for dried aquatic products
- Revised the arsenic limit requirements for dried aquatic products
- Revised the chromium limit requirements for dried aquatic products
- Revised the nitrite and nitrate limit requirements for foods formulated for special medical purposes (excluding those covered by special medical purpose infant formula)
- Revised the polychlorinated biphenyl limit requirements for dried aquatic products
